I've been looking into getting a new CPU and was wondering if anyone has experience with the AMD Ryzen 7 7700X or the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X when it comes to overclocking? I've heard mixed things about these CPUs, so any advice would be greatly appreciated!
AMD Ryzen 7 7700X vs. AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Overclocking?

Hey @devllord! I have the Ryzen 7 7700X and I'm really happy with its performance. As for overclocking, I had no issues pushing my CPU to around 5.2 GHz on all cores, which was pretty amazing. Check out this TechReviewer article AMD Ryzen 7 7700X vs. AMD Ryzen 5 5600X that talks more about these CPUs' overclocking capabilities.
Thanks for the input @calixreddit. That's good to know! Does anyone have experience with the Ryzen 5 5600X? How does its overclocking performance compare?
Hey @devllord, I've been using a Ryzen 5 5600X for a few months now, and it's been serving me well. As for overclocking, I managed to hit around 4.8 GHz on all cores without any issues. It's definitely possible to push the CPU, but the 7700X seems to have a bit more headroom.
That's useful feedback! Thanks @calixreddit and @PaperPlateBaron. So it sounds like both CPUs can be overclocked, but the Ryzen 7 7700X might give you a little more wiggle room for higher frequencies. I'm still trying to decide between these two, so any other thoughts or advice would be appreciated!
No problem, @devllord! The Ryzen 7 7700X does seem to have an edge in overclocking potential, but it's also a bit more expensive. It really comes down to your budget and what you need the CPU for. If you're mostly using it for gaming or heavy multitasking, the 7700X might be worth the extra cost.
I've heard that the Ryzen 5 5600X has better power efficiency and cooler performance compared to the 7700X. That could be a factor if you plan on having your CPU under full load for extended periods of time.
Interesting points, @calixreddit and @PhotoEditMike. I'll definitely keep those factors in mind as I make my decision. Thanks everyone for sharing their experiences!
