AMD Ryzen 7 7700 vs. Intel Core i9-10900 for Gaming?

Started by CuppyBoo on May 06, 2024

I'm in a dilemma between the AMD Ryzen 7 7700 and Intel Core i9-10900 for my gaming PC build. I've been reading some great things about both CPUs, but I can't seem to make a decision. Has anyone here used either of these processors? Any input would be helpful!

Hey @CuppyBoo! I've been using the AMD Ryzen 7 7700 for a while now and it's been fantastic for gaming. The higher refresh rate makes a huge difference in gaming, especially during fast-paced matches like Apex Legends. The resolution is also great for immersive gaming experiences. Check out the TechReviewer article AMD Ryzen 7 7700 vs. Intel Core i9-10900 if you want to learn more about its performance compared to the Intel Core i9-10900. I'd go with the AMD Ryzen 7 7700 if I were you.

@lumberjackshirt! That's really helpful. The LG 38GL950G-B monitor also offers better color accuracy, which I noticed when playing games like Cyberpunk 2077. I'm just not sure if I'll miss the Odyssey G9's higher refresh rate. Can anyone else share their thoughts on this?

@CuppyBoo, if space is a concern, the LG might be the better choice since it has a smaller screen size and fits easily on a small desk. The color accuracy can make a difference in games like Cyberpunk 2077, so that's worth considering.

Good point, @EndlesslyQuestioning. But I still have doubts about missing out on the higher refresh rate of the Odyssey G9 for gaming. Are there any other significant features that I might be sacrificing by choosing the LG monitor?

If you choose the Ryzen 7 7700, you won't miss anything major with the LG monitor. The only difference is in the color accuracy and screen size. Both are excellent gaming options, so it ultimately comes down to personal preference.

Thanks for the input, @kevinkrump. I guess I'll have to think more about my priorities when it comes to gaming. @lumberjackshirt, do you have any experience using both processors in your setup?

I've actually had a chance to use both monitors recently. They're both fantastic, but for different reasons. The Ryzen 7 7700's ultra-wide screen is amazing for immersive gameplay, but the LG's color accuracy is unbeatable if you're playing visually rich games. Plus, the LG's smaller size might fit better if your desk space is limited. What games do you mostly play? That might help narrow it down.

That's really useful advice, @lumberjackshirt. I usually play FPS and RPG games. Which processor would you recommend based on that?

Based on my experience, the Ryzen 7 7700 has a slight edge for gaming due to its higher refresh rate. But if color accuracy is more important to you for specific games like Cyberpunk 2077, the Intel Core i9-10900 might be a better choice. It's all about finding the right balance between refresh rates and color accuracy that suits your needs.

@EndlesslyQuestioning! I think I'll try out both processors in a benchmark test to see which one performs better with my gaming setup. Thanks again to everyone for sharing their experiences and advice!

That's a great idea, @CuppyBoo! Remember, the best processor for you will depend on your specific needs and preferences. Good luck with your build! If you have any more questions or need further guidance, don't hesitate to ask.

@lumberjackshirt! I'll keep that in mind. Have a great day, everyone!
