I'm trying to decide between the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X and the Intel Core i9-10850K for my next build. Any advice on which one has better overclocking potential?

Both the 5800X and the 10850K have similar overclocking potential, with both offering excellent support for overclocking. The main difference between them is their base frequency and max boost frequency.
I've heard that AMD's Ryzen 7 5800X has a base frequency of 3.8 GHz and a max boost frequency of 4.7 GHz, while the Core i9-10850K has a base frequency of 3.6 GHz and a max turbo frequency of 5.2 GHz.
Oh, I didn't know that! Thanks for sharing AMD Ryzen 7 5800X vs. Intel Core i9-10850K which provides an overview of both CPUs' performance and overclocking potential. I think it's interesting to see the comparison between these two processors.
That link you mentioned is really helpful, @yeskaydee. It shows that while their base frequencies are different, they both have impressive max boost frequencies which should translate into good gaming and application performance.
Yeah, another thing to consider is PCIe support. The 5800X has PCIe 4.0, which is better for compatibility with the latest SSDs and graphics cards, whereas the 10850K only has PCIe 3.0.
That's a good point about PCIe support, @HarlemRobeSpotter. I'll definitely need to take that into account when making my decision.
Thanks everyone for your insights! Based on what you've said, it sounds like both CPUs have their strengths and weaknesses. I think I might need some more time to make up my mind before pulling the trigger on either one of them.
Same here, @SuperKamiGuruNA. It's always good to explore all options before making a big investment. Remember, personal preference and usage patterns play a significant role in which CPU is right for you. Good luck with your decision!
