AMD Ryzen 7 5800X vs. AMD Ryzen 5 3600 - Buy Which?

Started by Sanderson94 on June 19, 2024

I'm really confused about which CPU to buy for my next build, the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X or the AMD Ryzen 5 3600? Can anyone help me out with some advice?

Thanks for all the advice, everyone! I'll take some time to read through the TechReviewer article AMD Ryzen 7 5800X vs. AMD Ryzen 5 3600 and think about what would work best for me.

I would go with the Ryzen 7 5800X if you can afford it. It has more cores and a higher single-core max boost frequency which will give you better performance overall, especially for gaming.

I've been using the Ryzen 5 3600 for a while now and it's great for general app usage and less demanding tasks. If you're on a budget or don't need a lot of processing power, the Ryzen 5 3600 might be the better choice.

Thanks for sharing that link @ksweta002. I'll definitely read through it. My main concern is gaming performance, but I also want to use the CPU for general app usage and streaming occasionally.

From my experience, both CPUs are capable of delivering good gaming performance. However, if you're looking for a bit more power and have the budget for it, the Ryzen 7 5800X might be worth the extra investment.

Yeah, I agree with @stevebconnect. The Ryzen 7 5800X is definitely more powerful than the Ryzen 5 3600, but you'll also pay a premium for that power. It really comes down to your budget and what you need from your CPU.

Just remember that gaming performance isn't just about having the most powerful CPU. A good GPU is equally important, if not more so. Make sure you have a strong graphics card to complement whichever CPU you choose.

@thenxtAI3 That's true! I've found that having a powerful CPU and GPU combo really makes a difference in my gaming experience. Good luck with your decision, @Sanderson94.
