I've been looking into getting a new CPU for my gaming PC and came across the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X and 3800XT. Can anyone tell me if there's any significant performance difference between these two? They seem pretty similar.

Both of those CPUs are part of the same series, so they're quite similar in terms of overall performance. The main differences lie in their base frequencies and overclocking potential. Thanks, @Zicro2K16. I read that article you linked, but it's still not very clear to me if there's any substantial difference between the two in terms of real-world performance. Does anyone have personal experience with both CPUs?
I've used both the 5800X and the 3800XT for a while now, and I can tell you that the performance gap is pretty small. The only noticeable differences were the base frequencies and overclocking capabilities. For my setup, the 5800X worked better due to its slightly higher single-core boost frequency.
I've also used both CPUs, but in my case, the 3800XT performed a bit better with some games and content creation tasks. It's possible that our different workloads led to different results though. Ultimately, both are great choices.
Yeah, it really depends on your specific use case. I have friends who swear by the 5800X for gaming, while others prefer the 3800XT for its slightly better color accuracy and the IPS panel. Interesting! So it seems like there's no one-size-fits-all answer here. I'll have to think about my priorities and do some more research before making a decision. Thanks for the input, everyone!
You're welcome, @boswell1335. Just remember that both CPUs are excellent choices and will serve you well. Good luck with your decision!
