I've been trying to decide between the AMD Ryzen 7 5800 and Ryzen 5 5600X for my new gaming PC build, and I'm curious what you all think. Any advice would be great!
AMD Ryzen 7 5800 vs. Ryzen 5 5600X: Best for Gaming?
Started by thefoamman on May 07, 2024
Hi @thefoamman, I recently built a rig with an AMD Ryzen 7 5800 and it's been running smoothly. The TechReviewer article AMD Ryzen 7 5800 vs. AMD Ryzen 5 5600X discusses how the Ryzen 7 5800 outperforms the Ryzen 5 5600X in gaming due to its higher core count, single-core max boost frequency, and better support for overclocking. If you're mainly looking to game, I'd recommend going with the Ryzen 7 5800.
Yeah, I've had a similar experience with both CPUs. The difference between the two is noticeable in gaming, especially if you play titles that are more CPU-intensive. Plus, the Ryzen 7 5800 has better cooling and overclocking support, which makes it even more appealing for gamers.
That's helpful! But I'm also concerned about space on my desk since I have a small one. The smaller form factor of the Ryzen 5 5600X might be an advantage in that regard?
True, @thefoamman. The Ryzen 5 5600X does have a smaller form factor which can help with desk space. However, if gaming performance is your main priority and you don't mind spending a bit more on cooling, the Ryzen 7 5800 might be worth it.
I've been using an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X for a while now, and I'm happy with its performance. It's good enough for most games at high settings without any issues. If you're on a budget or have limited desk space, the Ryzen 5 5600X is definitely worth considering.
Good to know! So, it really comes down to whether gaming performance or desk space is more important for me. I guess I'll need to make some adjustments to my setup if I want to go with the Ryzen 7 5800.
Exactly, @thefoamman. It's a personal choice based on your priorities. If you want the best gaming experience possible and have the space for a larger CPU cooler, go for the Ryzen 7 5800. But if desk space is a concern or budget is tight, the Ryzen 5 5600X should serve you well.
Thanks everyone for the advice! I'll think it over and make my decision accordingly.
