I've been looking at these two CPUs and can't decide which one to get. Any advice would be appreciated.
AMD Ryzen 7 5800 vs AMD Ryzen 5 3600 for Gaming?
Started by vaniokrika on July 11, 2024
I recently bought the AMD Ryzen 7 5800, and it's working great for me! There's a good article with an overview of it at AMD Ryzen 7 5800 vs. AMD Ryzen 5 3600.
That's super useful! It looks like the refresh rate is 144Hz, which seems like it'd be great for gaming.
I'm more of a console guy, but I remember hearing something about the AMD Ryzen 5 3600 being good too. Can you guys elaborate on that?
The 3600 has some solid specs - 6 cores, 3.6 GHz base frequency, and a 4.2 GHz single-core max boost frequency. It's definitely capable for gaming, but the 5800 is better suited due to its higher core count and better single-core boost frequency.
I've been using the 3600 for a while now and haven't had any issues. It works fine for my casual gaming and productivity stuff.
Thanks for the input, guys! So, overall, would you say the 5800 is better for gaming in general?
In terms of raw performance for gaming, yes, the 5800 is likely the better choice due to its higher core count and boost frequency. However, if you're on a budget or don't need that extra power, the 3600 might be sufficient.
Good to know! Thanks for the advice. I'll probably go with the Ryzen 7 5800 then.
