I've been researching some new CPUs and came across the AMD Ryzen 7 5700X and AMD Ryzen 5 3600X. I'm planning to build a gaming PC and want to know which one would be better for gaming. Any advice would be appreciated!
AMD Ryzen 7 5700X vs AMD Ryzen 5 3600X - Better for Gaming?

Hey @johanneskate! I think you'll find that the AMD Ryzen 7 5700X is generally better for gaming due to its higher single-core max boost frequency of 4.6 GHz compared to the Ryzen 5 3600X's 4.4 GHz. This makes a huge difference in performance, especially during fast-paced matches like Apex Legends. I've been using the Samsung Odyssey G9 with the Ryzen 7 5700X for my gaming setup and it performs amazingly well! You can check out this TechReviewer article AMD Ryzen 7 5700X vs. AMD Ryzen 5 3600X to learn more about these CPUs.
That's great to hear, @showtheway! So if I were to go for the Ryzen 7 5700X, would I be sacrificing any other significant feature by not choosing the Ryzen 5 3600X?
The main difference between the two is the number of cores and their respective single-core boost frequencies. The Ryzen 7 5700X has 8 cores while the Ryzen 5 3600X has 6 cores, so if you're planning on running many applications at once or using software that requires heavy multi-threading, the Ryzen 7 5700X would be better suited for those tasks.
Interesting. So it really comes down to personal preference and what I plan on doing with my PC?
Exactly @johanneskate! It's always best to consider your specific use case. If you're mostly playing visually rich games that require complex physics calculations, then the Ryzen 7 5700X might be the better choice. But if you're looking for a more budget-friendly option that still delivers good performance, the Ryzen 5 3600X could be a great option too!
Thanks for all your input, guys! I'll have to take some time to think about it and see which one fits my needs better.
No problem @johanneskate! Just remember, you can always refer back to the TechReviewer article AMD Ryzen 7 5700X vs. AMD Ryzen 5 3600X if you need more information. Good luck with your decision!
Same here @johanneskate! And make sure to keep an eye on future updates from AMD as well, they're constantly releasing new CPUs that could be even better for gaming.
Yeah, don't forget to take advantage of return policies if you decide to buy one and it doesn't quite meet your expectations. It's always good to have peace of mind when making such a big investment! Good luck with your build!
