I've been looking at these two CPUs and can't decide which one to go for. Has anyone had any experience with the AMD Ryzen 7 5700G or the AMD Ryzen 7 1800X?

I have the 5700G and it's working great for me! The performance is excellent, especially in gaming and general applications. There's a good article with an overview of both CPUs at AMD Ryzen 7 5700G vs. AMD Ryzen 7 1800X.
That's super useful! It looks like the refresh rate is 144Hz, which seems like it'd be great for gaming.
I've used both the 5700G and 1800X in my projects, and to be honest, they're quite similar in terms of performance. The 5700G does have a slightly higher single-core boost frequency, but overall, they're both excellent choices. Just make sure you have a high-end cooler for either CPU.
Thanks for the input! I'm more interested in gaming and general app usage. Do you think one CPU would be better suited for that?
For gaming and general apps, both CPUs should perform well. The 5700G has a higher single-core boost frequency, which can help with gaming performance.
I've been using the 1800X for a while now, and it's served me well in my projects. It handles gaming and general applications just fine, although I did have to buy a better cooler to keep it from overheating.
If I had to choose between the two, I'd go with the 5700G due to its higher single-core boost frequency. However, both CPUs are great options and will serve you well in gaming and general app usage.
I agree with @Mauronic. The 5700G's slightly higher boost frequency could give it a slight edge in gaming, but ultimately, you can't go wrong with either choice.
Yeah, just make sure you have a good cooler for whichever one you choose. Both the 5700G and 1800X are solid choices for gaming and general applications.
