I'm currently trying to choose between the AMD Ryzen 7 3800X and Intel Core i7-11700K for my gaming PC build. Does anyone have experience with either of these processors? Any recommendations would be helpful!
AMD Ryzen 7 3800X vs. Intel Core i7-11700K: Better for Gaming?

Hey @fullofstars, I've used both the 3800X and 11700K for gaming, and I must say they're both great choices! However, in my experience, the 3800X has been a tad better. The higher base frequency and boost clock definitely make a difference when it comes to gaming performance.
I've used both as well, and while the 11700K is not bad at all, I found that the 3800X provided smoother gameplay overall. If you have the budget for it, I'd go with the 3800X. Also, check out this TechReviewer article AMD Ryzen 7 3800X vs. Intel Core i7-11700K for a more in-depth comparison.
Yeah, both are excellent choices but from what I've experienced, the Ryzen 7 3800X has an edge when it comes to gaming. The higher boost clock really helps with maintaining smooth gameplay even during intense games!
thanks for the input! @Knowledge1337, @apesfromspace13, and @Mediumadventure mentioned that the 3800X has a slight advantage in gaming performance due to its higher base and boost frequencies. I've been leaning towards the 11700K because of its lower price, but I might reconsider based on your experiences.
That's really helpful, @no-love-lost. It seems like the 3800X is the way to go if you want top-notch gaming performance. Thanks for sharing your experiences and that TechReviewer article AMD Ryzen 7 3800X vs. Intel Core i7-11700K! I'll definitely check it out for more insights.
Just wanted to chime in and say that both processors are capable of great gaming performance, but ultimately it comes down to personal preference and budget. If you can stretch your budget a bit more, the 3800X might be worth it for those extra performance gains.
I agree with @SakanaFish. The 3800X is slightly better in terms of raw performance, but the 11700K still offers great gaming experience at a lower price point. It's all about finding the right balance between performance and cost.
Thanks for the advice, everyone! It seems like I have to weigh my budget against my desire for the best possible gaming experience. I'll keep that in mind while making my decision. Appreciate your insights!
No problem, @fullofstars! Remember, there's no wrong choice here – both processors are great for gaming. Good luck with your build and have fun gaming!
Ditto what @apesfromspace13 said. It's ultimately up to you and your budget. Whatever processor you choose, I'm sure you'll be happy with it. Happy building and gaming!
