I've been looking into getting a new CPU for video editing and I came across the AMD Ryzen 7 3800X and the Ryzen 7 1700. Can anyone here share some insights on which one would be better for my needs?

The 3800X is definitely an upgrade from the 1700, especially if you're working with high-resolution videos or doing a lot of heavy editing. I've been using the 3800X and it works great for me.
Yeah, @Zeberlicious, I agree! I've used both the 3800X and the 1700 for video editing, and the 3800X has a much smoother performance overall. Not to mention, the AMD Ryzen 7 3800X vs. AMD Ryzen 7 1700 article you mentioned provides a detailed comparison of these two CPUs. Check it out!
Thanks for sharing your experiences, guys! I'm really leaning towards the 3800X now. The faster base frequency and single-core max boost frequency seem like they would be beneficial for video editing.
If you're looking to do a lot of rendering or exporting large files, the 3800X is definitely the better option. I've had some issues with the 1700 when working on big projects, so I'm planning on upgrading to the 3800X soon.
Good to know, @Starshin3. It sounds like the extra cores and higher boost frequencies are worth it for video editing tasks. Thanks for all the input!
Don't forget about the PCIe support - the 3800X has PCIe 4.0 while the 1700 only has PCIe 3.0. This could make a big difference if you're planning on using high-speed SSDs or GPUs for your video editing workflow.
That's true, @Zeberlicious. I'll definitely keep that in mind when making my decision. Thanks again everyone for the advice!
