I'm in a bit of a dilemma right now. I'm looking to upgrade my CPU and I'm stuck between the AMD Ryzen 7 3700X and the Intel Core i7-9700K. Can anyone share their thoughts on which one is better for gaming? Also, has anyone tried overclocking them?

I've used both CPUs in the past and I can tell you that they're really close in terms of performance. However, the Ryzen 7 3700X comes with more cores and a higher base frequency, which could give it an edge in some situations.
Yeah, I've worked with both the 3700X and the i7-9700K, and they're pretty similar when it comes to gaming. The key difference for me was the price - the Ryzen 7 3700X was much more affordable. As for overclocking, it's definitely possible on both CPUs.
I recently read a comparison article on TechReviewer that might help you guys make a decision. It compares the two CPUs in terms of core types, frequencies, cache capacities, and other features. You can check it out here: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X vs. Intel Core i7-9700K.
@Stuffedbunny Thanks for sharing your experience! I was under the impression that the i7-9700K had more cores than the 3700X, but it seems like they have the same core count.
I've been using an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X for a while now and I must say it's fantastic! The higher core count gives me better multitasking capabilities, especially when running multiple applications at the same time. For gaming, I haven't noticed much of a difference compared to my previous CPU with fewer cores.
@MademoiselleVeritas That's interesting! It seems like having more cores can make a difference in some situations, but it might not always be noticeable for everyone.
It really depends on the type of games you play and how well they utilize the extra cores. Some games benefit more from additional cores than others.
@SupraRZ1999 Thanks for sharing the link to the TechReviewer article! I'll definitely check it out. It's good to know that both CPUs are quite similar in terms of performance, but the 3700X seems like a better deal price-wise.
Exactly! And if you're looking for more future-proofing, the Ryzen 7 3700X also supports PCIe 4.0 and DDR4 with a max stock speed of 3200 MHz, while the Core i7-9700K supports PCIe 3.0 and DDR4 with a max stock speed of 2666 MHz.
@Stuffedbunny That's great to know! I'll definitely consider those points as well. Thanks everyone for your input!
No problem, glad I could help! Good luck with your decision, and let me know if you have any other questions.
