@MatryxMercy is correct! I've used both CPUs and can vouch for the Ryzen 7 3700X's efficiency in handling multi-threaded tasks. Additionally, I found a TechReviewer article AMD Ryzen 7 3700X vs. Intel Core i7-11700F comparing these two CPUs which goes into detail about their performance differences. It might be helpful to check it out before making your decision.

Based on my experience, the Ryzen 7 3700X has superior multi-thread performance compared to the Core i7-11700F. The 3700X comes with an additional 16 threads and a larger L3 cache size of 32 MB, which makes it more efficient for tasks that can utilize multiple cores simultaneously.

Solution

@MatryxMercy and @Beto1989! That information helps a lot. The Ryzen 7 3700X seems more suitable for my needs since I do a lot of video editing and rendering which require heavy multi-threaded processing. Would either CPU's gaming performance be significantly different?

While both CPUs have good gaming performance, the Ryzen 7 3700X has an edge due to its higher single-core max boost frequency and overall efficiency. However, the Core i7-11700F is still a capable choice for gaming.

Good to know! The Ryzen 7 3700X seems like a better fit for my needs then. I'll read up on the TechReviewer article @Beto1989 mentioned and make my final decision. Thanks for the help, everyone!

You're welcome, @MakeMyMark! Let me know if you have any more questions or need further clarification. Good luck with your CPU upgrade!
