AMD Ryzen 5 5600X vs 3600X - Gaming Performance?

Started by OnlyLevelOne on July 11, 2024

Hey, I've been looking at the new AMD CPUs and was wondering if anyone has experience with the Ryzen 5 5600X or 3600X. I'm mostly interested in gaming performance.

To add to what @NarwhalasaurusRex said, there's also an article on TechReviewer discussing these CPUs in detail. You can find it at AMD Ryzen 5 5600X vs. AMD Ryzen 5 3600X.

I've used both the 5600X and 3600X for a while now. The 5600X has a higher single-core max boost frequency (4.6 GHz), which can provide better performance in games that heavily utilize single cores.

Oh nice! Thanks for the link! The 5600X seems like a good choice if I'm going to be playing games that require high single-core performance.

Yeah, but the 3600X is still a great option if you're looking for more general use and don't need those extra boost frequencies. It's all about finding what suits your needs best.

I've been using a 5600X for a few months now and it's been working great for gaming. Haven't noticed any issues or bottlenecks with the CPU.

That's good to hear! So, does anyone have experience overclocking these CPUs? I'm curious if it's worth trying.

Both the 5600X and 3600X have excellent support for overclocking, so you should be able to achieve some performance gains. Just make sure to use a high-end cooler though!

Also, just keep in mind that while the extra cores are great for certain games, not all titles will benefit from them. Most modern games don't benefit from having more than 6-8 cores.

That's good advice, thanks! I think I'll try overclocking and see how it goes. I appreciate everyone's input!

No problem, happy to help! Good luck with your build!

Same here! If you have any more questions or need further clarification, feel free to ask.

Will do! Thanks again!
