AMD Ryzen 5 5600G vs. Intel Core i5-11500 Graphics?

Started by ItsMayAnyway on May 16, 2024

I'm thinking about getting either an AMD Ryzen 5 5600G or an Intel Core i5-11500 for my new PC build and was wondering what you all think about the integrated graphics of each? Any insights would be great!

Yeah, @samallenrows is right. It's important to note that if you're planning on doing some serious gaming or video editing, you might want to consider getting a discrete graphics card instead. But for general use like browsing the internet and office work, both CPUs should perform admirably. You can check out this TechReviewer article AMD Ryzen 5 5600G vs. Intel Core i5-11500 for a more in-depth comparison.

Well @ItsMayAnyway, both CPUs have their own strengths and weaknesses when it comes to integrated graphics. The Ryzen 5 5600G has an integrated Radeon Graphics card while the Intel Core i5-11500 does not have a dedicated GPU. Have you considered that?

Solution

Thanks for the advice, @WaffleMasterZ! I didn't realize that was an option for the Intel CPU. What do you think about the AMD Ryzen 5 5600G's integrated graphics performance?

I've been using the Ryzen 5 5600G and its integrated Radeon Graphics card for a while now, and it's been working fine for me. I mostly use it for web browsing, streaming videos, and some light gaming. It handles everything pretty smoothly.

That's good to know @mattylert! So you don't think I'll have any issues with the AMD Ryzen 5 5600G's integrated graphics for those purposes?

@ItsMayAnyway, it really depends on what kind of games and video formats you're planning on using. If you're mostly playing less demanding games or watching standard definition videos, then the Ryzen 5 5600G should be just fine. But if you're looking to play more graphics-intensive games or work with high-resolution videos, a discrete GPU might be necessary.

@ItsMayAnyway, another thing to consider is the potential future upgrades you may want to make. If you think you'll eventually want to upgrade your GPU, it might be worth going with the Ryzen 5 5600G since you won't have to worry about integrated graphics getting in the way of future upgrades.

Thanks for all the advice! I'm leaning towards the AMD Ryzen 5 5600G now. But what about temperature and noise levels? Are those something I should be concerned about?

@ItsMayAnyway, good question! Integrated graphics can generate more heat than a discrete GPU, so you might want to make sure your case has good airflow and that you have a quality cooling solution for your CPU and motherboard. As for noise levels, integrated graphics typically don't produce any additional noise, so you shouldn't have to worry about that.

That's great to hear! Thanks everyone for the help. I think I'll go with the AMD Ryzen 5 5600G and see how it goes!
