I've been looking at the AMD Ryzen 7 1700X and the AMD Ryzen 5 5600G, and I'm curious if anyone has any experience with overclocking either of these. I'm looking to build a system for some serious gaming, but I also want to do some light streaming. Any advice?
AMD Ryzen 5 5600G vs. 1700X for Overclocking?

Hey @Orchid1997, both of those CPUs are great choices! For gaming, the 1700X will give you better performance due to its higher core count and frequency. However, the 5600G has integrated graphics, which is nice for streaming. But regarding overclocking, I think the 1700X might have an edge.
I've used both of these CPUs, and I can tell you that overclocking potential is better on the AMD Ryzen 7 1700X compared to the AMD Ryzen 5 5600G. The 1700X has a higher core count and base frequency, which can lead to improved performance overall.
Interesting, @CandySona. I was leaning towards the 5600G because of its better integrated graphics, but now I'm reconsidering. Still, I'd like to hear from someone who's actually tried overclocking either of these CPUs. Any experiences?
I found a great article on TechReviewer that talks about this in detail: AMD Ryzen 5 5600G vs. AMD Ryzen 7 1700X. It's an in-depth comparison of the Ryzen 5 5600G and the Ryzen 7 1700X, including their overclocking potential. Definitely worth a read if you're trying to make a decision.
Thanks for sharing, @herrokatie! I'll definitely check out that article. In the meantime, does anyone have any personal experiences with overclocking these CPUs? I'm really curious to know how much of a difference it makes in practice.
@Orchid1997, I've done some overclocking with the 1700X and I can tell you it's definitely possible to get some good performance boosts. I didn't notice any issues with stability or overheating either, which is great.
Yeah, I've tried overclocking both CPUs, and while the 5600G did have some potential, the 1700X was definitely easier to push for higher performance. I didn't encounter any problems during the process either.
That's good to hear, @erock0138 and @CandySona. So it seems like the 1700X is the better choice if you're looking for overclocking potential. But what about integrated graphics? Is there a big difference in performance when using them for streaming?
Thanks for all the input! I guess I'll have to read that TechReviewer article @herrokatie mentioned and see which CPU fits my needs best. The 1700X seems more suitable for gaming, but I still want to know more about the integrated graphics performance on the 5600G.
Yeah, the 5600G's integrated graphics are good enough for streaming at lower resolutions and quality settings. For higher quality streams or 4K content, you might want to consider a dedicated GPU though.
I agree with @erock0138. While the integrated graphics on the 5600G are decent, they won't provide the same performance as a dedicated GPU for high-end streaming and gaming at higher resolutions. If you plan to push your system hard, it might be worth considering a separate GPU.
So it seems like both CPUs have their pros and cons. The 1700X is better for overclocking and gaming performance, while the
