Thanks for sharing AMD Ryzen 5 3600X vs. AMD Ryzen 7 1700X, @Livinglifelite. I've read it before and found it quite informative. The 3600X has better support for PCIe 4.0, which could be beneficial if you plan on using fast SSDs or graphics cards in the future.

Hey, I've used both of those CPUs in my gaming rig! The 3600X has more cores which can be beneficial for some games. Also, it has a higher single-core max boost frequency.

Interesting points from @dazbekzart. I think the extra cores on the 3600X could help with multitasking and running intensive applications alongside my games.

That's great to know. Do you guys have any experience with overclocking these CPUs? I'm curious if there's much of a performance gain.

Yeah, both the 3600X and 1700X support good overclocking. You might see some benefits in gaming, but it really depends on the game itself and how well it scales with extra CPU power.

Oh, I almost forgot! There's a TechReviewer article AMD Ryzen 5 3600X vs. AMD Ryzen 7 1700X that goes into detail about these two CPUs and their performance. It might be worth checking out.

Solution

Thanks for all the input! Based on what you guys said, I might lean towards getting the Ryzen 5 3600X for my build. It seems like it would offer better performance overall.

That's a good call, @ArtByAnthonyTran. The extra cores and higher boost frequency should serve you well in the long run!
