AMD Ryzen 5 3600 vs. Intel Core i5-10500 Overclocking?

Started by JustinePayaso on July 11, 2024

I've been thinking about getting a new CPU for my PC build, and I'm trying to decide between the AMD Ryzen 5 3600 and the Intel Core i5-10500. Has anyone used either of these? Any advice on which one is better?

Hey, I have both! The Ryzen 5 3600 has been working great for me. It's got a good amount of cores, so it handles multitasking really well. I've also managed to overclock it to get some extra performance.

I'm using the Intel Core i5-10500 and it's decent for everyday tasks, but when it comes to gaming or heavy multitasking, it does start to struggle a bit. Overclocking isn't really an option with this CPU, though.

You guys should check out this TechReviewer article AMD Ryzen 5 3600 vs. Intel Core i5-10500 that compares the two CPUs in detail. It talks about their overclocking potential and other performance aspects.

Thanks for sharing that link, @talileota. I'll definitely read up on it. So, based on your experience, @amyamy25, would you recommend going with the Ryzen 5 3600?

It really depends on what you need it for. If you're doing a lot of multitasking or gaming, the Ryzen 5 3600 is a great choice. But if you're mostly just browsing the web and doing simple office tasks, the Intel Core i5-10500 might be enough.

Yeah, I agree with @amyamy25. The Ryzen 5 3600 also has better overclocking potential, which is something to consider if you want to squeeze out a bit more performance.
