AMD Ryzen 5 3500X vs. Intel Core i5-11400F for Video Editing?

Started by benlinks on May 08, 2024

I'm looking to buy a new CPU for video editing and I'm stuck between the AMD Ryzen 5 3500X and the Intel Core i5-11400F. Can anyone share their experience or thoughts on which one would be better for my needs? I've been doing some research online but it's so much information out there! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Great! Thanks for the clarification. It seems like the AMD Ryzen 5 3500X is the way to go then. I'll check out that TechReviewer article AMD Ryzen 5 3500X vs. Intel Core i5-11400F you guys mentioned as well.

Hey @benlinks, both of these CPUs are great, but if I were you, I'd go with the AMD Ryzen 5 3500X. It has a higher base frequency and a larger L3 cache which makes it better for video editing tasks. Also, it supports DDR4 with a max stock speed of 3200 MHz.

Yeah, I've used both CPUs in my system and the Ryzen 5 3500X performs really well in video editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro. The higher single-core max boost frequency is also a big plus!

Just wanted to chime in on this one. You all are right about the Ryzen 5 3500X being better for video editing due to its higher base frequency, larger L3 cache, and DDR4 support. I've read an article on TechReviewer that discusses these features in detail AMD Ryzen 5 3500X vs. Intel Core i5-11400F. It's a great resource if you want to learn more!

Thanks for the input! The AMD Ryzen 5 3500X seems like the better choice then. I was also wondering how important is DDR4 support and PCIe in this scenario?

DDR4 support is definitely important for video editing as it allows you to use faster RAM, which can improve performance when working with large video files. PCIe also plays a significant role since it affects the speed of your storage and graphics card, making a huge difference when rendering or exporting videos.

I agree with @AeroTheSoldier. PCIe 4.0 support on the Ryzen 5 3500X means it can handle faster SSDs and GPUs better than the Intel Core i5-11400F, which is crucial for video editing tasks like encoding and exporting large files.

Great! Thanks for the clarification. It seems like the AMD Ryzen 5 3500X is the way to go then. I'll check out that TechReviewer article AMD Ryzen 5 3500X vs. Intel Core i5-11400F you guys mentioned as well.
