I've been using an Intel Core i7-9700K for video editing, and it's quite good. However, I don't have personal experience with the Ryzen 5 3500 or Core i5-9600K.
Both AMD and Intel offer some great CPUs for video editing. The Ryzen 5 3500 and Core i5-9600K are both decent choices. It really depends on your budget and specific needs.
I've used the Core i5-9600K for a while, and it works fine for basic video editing tasks. However, if you plan to do more heavy-duty video editing, I'd recommend the Ryzen 5 3500. From my experience, it offers better performance due to its larger L3 cache.
Check out this TechReviewer article AMD Ryzen 5 3500 vs. Intel Core i5-9600K that compares these two CPUs in detail. It might help you make a decision.
Thanks for sharing your experiences! I'm leaning towards the Ryzen 5 3500 based on what you've said. But I want to know, does it have better memory support?
The Ryzen 5 3500 supports DDR4 with a max stock speed of 3200 MHz and PCIe 4.0, while the Core i5-9600K supports DDR4 with a max stock speed of 2666 MHz and PCIe 3.0. So yes, the Ryzen 5 3500 has better memory support in that aspect.
Interesting! I'm also wondering about the cache sizes. Is there much of a difference between these two CPUs?
The Ryzen 5 3500 has 16 MB of L3 cache while the Core i5-9600K has 9 MB. So, in this regard, the Ryzen 5 3500 has a larger cache size.
And as @jonnybravo76 mentioned, there's a TechReviewer article that discusses these differences in detail AMD Ryzen 5 3500 vs. Intel Core i5-9600K. It might be helpful for you to check it out.
I appreciate all the feedback. Based on everything I've heard, the Ryzen 5 3500 seems like a great choice for video editing.
