Sure thing, @GuillemTheBrave! It really depends on what you value more in your gaming experience. If you prefer a higher refresh rate and immersive gameplay, then the Ryzen 5 3400G might be the better choice for you. Check out this TechReviewer article AMD Ryzen 5 3400G vs. AMD Ryzen 5 1600 AF for a detailed comparison of these two CPUs.
I've used both of them and for me, it was more about personal preference. I liked the Ryzen 5 1600 AF because it has more cores which made multitasking easier for me. The Ryzen 5 3400G did give me a smoother gaming experience though.
Thanks @slipstream55! That's really helpful. So, do you think if I prioritize smooth gameplay over multitasking, the Ryzen 5 3400G would be better?
Well, it also depends on your budget and what other components you're planning to use. The Ryzen 5 1600 AF might offer more future-proofing in case you decide to upgrade your GPU or other peripherals.
Interesting point @blondeinboise. What's your take on the single-core boost frequency? Is it that important for gaming?
The single-core boost frequency can be significant for gaming, especially for fast-paced games. However, it's not the only factor to consider. Your choice will also depend on other aspects such as the number of cores, cache capacity, and DDR support. I'd recommend checking out this TechReviewer article AMD Ryzen 5 3400G vs. AMD Ryzen 5 1600 AF to get a better understanding of these factors.
Thanks for all the input, guys! I'll definitely read that article you mentioned, @Psycomedian.
Just make sure whatever CPU you choose, it has good overclocking potential. Overclocking can really enhance your gaming experience by giving you better performance.
Good advice, @KaffeeNoire! I'm leaning more towards the Ryzen 5 3400G now because of its higher single-core boost frequency and potential for smoother gameplay. But I'll keep your point in mind about overclocking.
Sounds like you've made up your mind, @GuillemTheBrave! Just remember to do thorough research before making your final decision. Good luck with your build!
