I've been using the 2600X for a few months now, and I must say it's great! The difference between the two is noticeable. There's a TechReviewer article AMD Ryzen 5 2600X vs. AMD Ryzen 5 1600 AF that goes over the details if you're interested.

Thanks, @EndlesslyQuestioning. That's helpful. What about gaming performance? Did you notice any differences when playing games?

Yeah, I've used both CPUs in my projects and can confirm that the 2600X performs better overall. I've noticed smoother gameplay and quicker load times with the 2600X.

That's what I experienced too! The 2600X really shines when it comes to gaming. As for general apps, there wasn't much of a difference in my experience.

Interesting. I might just go for the 2600X then. Thanks, @StructurallySound and @EndlesslyQuestioning for sharing your experiences!

I've been researching these CPUs as well and found that the 2600X has better DDR support and a higher max boost frequency, which could be beneficial for certain tasks.

Solution

I'll take a look at the article. It seems like the 2600X might be the better choice for my needs.

No problem, @kolaszor. Just make sure to get a good cooler as well! The 2600X can get pretty hot under load.
