AMD Ryzen 3 3300X vs. AMD Ryzen 7 2700X for Gaming?

Started by code-that on July 11, 2024

I'm thinking about getting a new gaming PC and I've narrowed it down to the AMD Ryzen 3 3300X or the AMD Ryzen 7 2700X. Can anyone give me some advice on which one would be better for gaming?

Hey @code-that, both CPUs are good, but the Ryzen 7 2700X has more cores and a higher base frequency, so it should provide better performance in most games. Have you checked out this article from TechReviewer? AMD Ryzen 3 3300X vs. AMD Ryzen 7 2700X

Thanks for your input @AwakenedGogeta. I've read that article too, and it really helped me understand the differences between these two CPUs. The Ryzen 7 2700X seems to be a better choice for gaming overall.

Yeah, I was also reading about overclocking capabilities and memory support, and it seems like the 2700X has an edge in those areas too. I'll probably go with the 2700X then.

I've been using a Ryzen 3 3300X for a while now, and I must say that while it's decent for gaming, I have had to use a high-end cooler to prevent thermal throttling. The 2700X might be a better choice if you want something more future-proof.

That's good to know @KsGaming2. Thanks for sharing your experience. I think I'll go ahead and get the Ryzen 7 2700X then, as it seems like a safer bet for gaming performance and longevity.

No problem, @code-that. Just remember that having a good GPU is still crucial for gaming performance. Good luck with your new build!

I really appreciate the advice. I'll be sure to pick up a great GPU as well.
