Hi @SirKyleofCox, I've been using an AMD Ryzen 3 1200 CPU in my build and have had great success with it! For selecting a power supply, you should consider factors like wattage, efficiency, and the specific needs of your system. Have you checked out this TechReviewer article? Solution

Hey @SirKyleofCox, I recently built a system around the same CPU and found that power consumption plays a significant role in selecting the best PSU. The link @lightyear44 shared is quite useful, so make sure you check it out. Additionally, remember that having an 80 PLUS certification can save you money on electricity costs in the long run.

Thanks for the recommendations! I noticed the power consumption aspect, and it makes sense to have a more efficient PSU. I'm still deciding between top-tier and mid-tier components, so how does that affect my choice of power supply?

I had a similar dilemma when building my PC. For top-tier components, I'd recommend going for a 750-1650 watt power supply, while mid-tier components would need something around 550 watts. Just make sure you have enough headroom to accommodate any future upgrades or overclocking.

Great point @effervescentadolesce! Overclocking can definitely increase power consumption, so it's good advice to factor that in when choosing your PSU wattage. I'd also recommend checking the PPT limit for your CPU and ensuring your power supply supports that wattage to avoid any issues.

@SirKyleofCox, based on my experience with the Ryzen 3 1200, you should aim for an 850-watt power supply for top-tier components and a 550-watt supply for mid-tier components. I've found that having a little extra buffer in wattage can be helpful if you decide to add more components or upgrade your system down the line.

Thanks everyone for all the advice! It's really helping me narrow down my choices. One last question, though: does the efficiency certification matter much when choosing a power supply?

In my opinion, @SirKyleofCox, having an 80 PLUS certified PSU can make a difference in the long run. Higher efficiency ratings typically result in lower energy consumption and heat generation, which can improve system reliability and reduce noise levels. It's worth considering if you're looking for a power supply that will last.

I agree with @lightyear44. While it may cost more upfront, an efficient PSU can save on electricity bills over time. Plus, lower-wattage PSUs are often more energy-efficient even when idle. So, it's a worthwhile investment in the long run.

Thanks for all the input! I think I have a better idea now of what to look for in a power supply for my Ryzen 3 1200 CPU. Much appreciated!

You're welcome @SirKyleofCox! If you have any more questions or need clarification on anything, feel free to ask. Good luck with your build!
