I'm looking to buy a new CPU and can't decide between the AMD Ryzen 9 7900X and the Intel Core i5-12400. Has anyone tried these processors in gaming? Any thoughts?

I've been using the 7900X for a while now, and it's impressive. The higher core count and single-core boost frequency provide excellent performance for gaming. Check out this TechReviewer article AMD Ryzen 9 7900X vs. Intel Core i5-12400 for more details on how it compares to the i5-12400.
That's really helpful! Thanks for sharing that link, @MesmerizingHS. So, based on your experience, would you recommend the 7900X over the i5-12400 for gaming?
I've used both CPUs and found the 7900X to be better suited for gaming due to its superior specifications. The higher core count, base frequency, single-core boost frequency, and L3 cache capacity give it an edge.
Thanks for your input, @Danny0402. It's good to know that someone else has experience with both CPUs. But what about the i5-12400? Does anyone have any positive experiences or reasons why I might choose that instead?
I've been using the i5-12400 for a while, and it's quite capable in gaming as well. It's not as powerful as the 7900X, but it still delivers good performance with a high-performance cooler.
Thanks, @coldblow85. That's helpful to know. But I'm still curious about how these CPUs compare in terms of their overclocking support and DDR5 compatibility?
Both processors offer great support for DDR5 memory, but the 7900X can go up to 5200 MHz stock speed while the i5-12400 is limited to 4800 MHz. As for overclocking, the 7900X has better potential for performance gains.
Thanks, @MesmerizingHS. I didn't realize the differences in DDR5 compatibility and overclocking support. Do you think it's worth paying more for the 7900X or would the i5-12400 be sufficient?
It really depends on your budget and specific needs. The 7900X is better suited for gaming, but if you're working with a tighter budget, the i5-12400 might be enough to satisfy your requirements.
Thanks for all the advice, everyone! I appreciate it. I think I'll do some more research on my own and compare the two again before making a final decision.
