Firefox burns my data!

The Beginning

So, I was browsing the web using IE6 and these annoying popups just wouldn't stop. I mean... they just kept coming like an albino flood! After about ten seconds of thinking, I decided to download and install Firefox because most popups are designed specifically for IE.

I am Google... Give me your money...

Download and Installation

After downloading Firefox from the Mozilla Website, I then proceeded to install it. I did a custom install instead of standard so I could specify where I wanted Firefox to be installed. Thinking Firefox would make itself a folder automatically, I installed it to the D:\ drive.

Not such a good idea...

Ok, so maybe Firefox didn't make a directory for itself. Instead it decided to spill all of the files onto the D:\ drive!

Great... Now I'm pissed...

Files! Files are everywhere! Well, I guess it's time to uninstall Firefox and try again.

NO! BAD! BAD DOG!

The Burn

I must admit, I did think about this message for a few seconds...

My Conscious:
Hmmm... I don't think Firefox is stupid enough to delete all my files on my D:\ drive...

Now, I really should've thought about that for a bit longer considering it hadn't created a folder for itself upon installation as I had expected. Unknowingly, I clicked yes and looked at my D:\ drive files as they all got perpetually raped by Firefox's uninstall program... All I could do was stare in awe.

My Conscious:
OMG! WTF! DIE FIREFOX, DIE! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

Conclusion

Was there anything saved? Yes, an mp3 I was listening to when this whole incident happened: Comfort Eagle by Cake (great huh?). Now what should you have learned from this?

  • Don't ever install Firefox without creating a folder for it!
  • Think about dialog boxes that pop up!
  • Never assume!

Now I wonder what would've happened had I installed Firefox to my C:\ drive?
