LAN Play

I recently attended a LAN party last Saturday and we played UT2004 for a few hours. We had absolutely no problems with lag and it was really fun! Well... for me anyways because I was owning everybody, heh.

Invasion Mode

Now this is an interesting mode: you play with your friends on any map you'd like while wave after wave of monsters from the origion Unreal game appear all over the map. They get progressively harder and harder after each wave. After a certain number of waves there's a "boss" round where these especially huge monsters come after you. If one of your teammates dies during a wave he'll respawn during the next wave. The cycle keeps going until your entire team dies in one wave.

Instant Action

One of the last things I wanted to talk about was the instant action mode; if you don't feel like playing online or your internet just died there's always instant action were you play with up to 32 bots on any mode you'd like and all the mutators you can shake a stick at. The AI of the bots isn't too bad, they acutally work together, like in onslaught mode they link up to build the nodes faster. It's pretty crazy!

Assault in space? What?

I have to mention this! There's a map in assault mode which is called AS-Mothership where you acutally do some space combat in one man fighters. Really fun, but you have to turn up your sensitivity a little, as turning can be a pain. Every fighter comes with a cannon/laser/machine gun thing and missles for your fragging pleasure; a very interesting map.

Here's a pic of the human version of the figher.

Stats

Want to know how your doing against everyone? Just visit Unreal Tournament 2004 Global Stats. you can find exactly how many frags, deaths, suicides you've had in every mode and map. This is good for all you stat whores out there.

Conclusion

Overall I thought this game is well worth your money. It's loaded with content, looks great, and is very addicting. Multiplayer was also very fun if you can find the right server. I've had very few problem with this game so far minus the occasional crash. There are so many things you can do in this game. There's bound to be something you'll like; personally I perfer assault and onslaught mode. There's also detailed stats kept by Epic if your a stat whore. Unreal Tournament 2004 is simply a great game that I would recommended you buy today.
