Performance
How do I measure the "performance" of this fan controller? At first I thought I'd just do a short review describing the fan controller, and leave it at that. Then it occured to me that I could do some simple tests to measure how well it "performed".
Noise control
Most people buy this to adjust the speed of their fans. That Vantec Tornado 92mm of mine was just too loud so I decided to make a small mp3 file of how loud it was while slowly turning down the knob.

Although not very scientific it still gets the job done. The mic is roughly one foot away from the fan with all the other case fans turned off (click on picture for a bigger view). That's some pretty significant noise reduction!
The picture doesn't show it too well since the camera I used is pretty old, but the LEDs on the fan controller are fairly bright; easy to see and use in the dark.
Conclusion
This is another good product from Vantec. The box was very helpful in telling me everything I needed to know. Also, it came with everything I needed and the color is perfect if your case is black like mine. For all your LAN party people out there, this thing weighs so little (120g) you won't even notice the extra weight when lugging your comp and monitor around. Installationwas a breeze except for the somewhat small screwholes mentioned earlier. As for it's purpose, controlling fan noise, it did a great job! The Vantec Tornado was finally silenced (not literally!) and I can now use it instead of that cheap Sunon fan. One other minor problem I had was that the wires on the 3/4 pin universal were very loose when I first got them (as in they weren't bonded together). I had to use masking tape to wrap the wires up nice and tight. Finally, all these wires going around will make your case look very messy if you don't wire it right so beware of that! Overall a good product at a fair price.
