Memorex Modz TechReviewer.com Review

The idea of computer cases have changed a lot over the past few years; we are now getting away from the boring beige case that used to come with every system that you would buy. Now Cases are colorful, have windows with bright neon lights, have fans that light up, and cables that are looking more pleasing to the eye.

Today we received some computer case mods from Memorex. This is their first shot at making computer case mods. They sent us a single cold cathode blue neon light, 80mm blue led fan, and a rolled IDE cable from their new "Modz" line of products.

The Neon Light

The blue neon light is a cool way to dress up the inside of your case when showing off your motherboard or other internals.

Setting up this light is very simple; all it needs is a standard 4 pin Molex connector. The light then plugs into the inverter. The inverter is useful too; it allows you to plug more than one cold cathode into it. The cold cathode light work well; it’s a bright light that shines everything inside pretty nicely. Also included is a very handy on/off switch (displayed in the photo below).

The LED Fan

The clear LED fan is 80mm in diameter and it has two blue LEDS.
I mounted this fan on my side panel. The first time I had it on there was with the stock grill that it came with. It’s a good grill but it's not all that cool looking in my opinion. I put my custom fan grill on there. They both looked good, but I personally liked my custom one better. The only problem that I could find regarding the fan is that there is not enough LED’s on it; there is only 2 of them. The main feature I like about this product is that it can plug into your motherboard and use a chases fan power. It will also adjust its speeds based on how hot it gets. This is another good product from Memorex. The fan uses a double ball bearing system.

The IDE Cable

This cable is a silver, rounded, IDE cable that is 18” long and can hold 2 devices and run at 133.
These are now becoming more and more popular with modders. It helps the over clocker by gaining some more room so that their fans can better circulate air inside of the case. Plus, these cables clean up (the look of) the inside of your case too. It plugs in just like any other cable. Some say that you gain more performance from these cables, but I haven’t done my research on that one yet. This is another good product from Memorex.

Summary

All three of these products are good if you are just getting into case modding. They all make your case look great. If you are interested in getting into case modding, I would start with these mods and move your way up. On the other hand, these mods do not make me want to go out and buy just them. They are not extraordinarily different from many of the other mods available, but like I said, they are good for people just getting into case modding.
