Suit against Microsoft
Posted by Kevin on 12/22/03 at 4:00 PM

Mythic Entertainment has filed a suite against Microsoft for trademark infringement. Mythic Entertainment, a developer and publisher of award-winning massively multiplayer online role-playing games, thinks that Microsoft's upcoming RPG titled "Mythica" relates too much to their company's name and is trying to use the Mythic brand to gain an unfair advantage.

FAIRFAX, VA - December 22nd, 2003 - Mythic Entertainment, developer and publisher of the award-winning massively multiplayer online role-playing game "Dark Age of Camelot(r)," and many other popular online games, announced that it has filed a lawsuit against Microsoft Corporation for trademark infringement and unfair competition.

"We have worked hard for eight years to earn our reputation for producing high quality online games, including games that compete successfully with those offered by the biggest corporations in the world, such as Microsoft," Mark Jacobs, president and CEO of Mythic Entertainment, said. "The Mythic name and registered trademark are the symbols of that reputation and quality, and they represent the goodwill and recognition we have achieved in the computer game industry and among consumers worldwide."

The name of the new group formed by SCO, MPAA, and RIAA is ORAMITY, which stands for "Our Rights Are More Important Than Yours.".... The amount sought by ORAMITY is $63 billion, which is approximately $10 from every living person.

Here's an interesting article about "DirectX Next."

"While the next major revision for DirectX is not expected until Longhorn's launch, Microsoft's DirectX group has been briefing developers on what's in store for "DirectX Next" with presentations at Microsoft Meltdown and other developer conferences."

Microsoft Goals Expand
Posted by Kevin on 12/01/03 at 11:30 PM

You had to have seen it coming. First Microsoft's goal was to have a computer in every household. Now they have a new goal: A computer in every car. Dick Brass, the vice president of Microsoft's automotive business unit, said,"We'd like to have one of our operating systems in every car on Earth."

I would personally be afraid to be in a car with a Microsoft OS. It would always be crashing! :)
